Update on State Finals

With a heavy heart it was decided by myself and the event directors to cancel our state finals rodeo to comply with the current Health Directive Measures established by Governor Ricketts. Please see the attached document I received from the governor’s office.  If you sent Jill entries with a check for the state finals, they will be shredded.

I also received an email from the National Rodeo office today stating , there will be an announcement May 12-14 to determine if the National JR High Finals will go on as scheduled or cancelled.

For the National team we will take the top 4 in each event. I believe there is at least one 4-5 tie and both will qualify. Jill is recalculating the points. When they are official I will post the team and all around winners. Starting May 6 the National office will operate at half staff and will be sending the national qualifier packets. If it is determined after May 14 that the national finals will go on, the documents that need signed and notarized will be emailed to the qualifier and the documents will need emailed back to Steph and a payment sent via mail. All documents and payments will need to be received by Steph before the contestants are eligible to compete at Des Moines.
I’m working on a couple things and will determine at a later date when and how to distribute the qualifier buckles.

I want to thank all the members and parents for them memories and friendships I’ve made. We have something very special in our association. Let me know if you have questions. Believe me this is not what any of us wanted.

Thank you and keep practicing. Better days are coming

Brad

Student Athlete of the Month

One of the most well-received programs in the National High School Rodeo Association, the Professional’s Choice Student Athlete of the Month program began in September 1999.

The program rewards one girl and one boy each month with a Professional’s Choice Air Ride Saddle Pad and qualifies each monthly winner for two $1,000 scholarships (one boys and one girls) to be awarded at the end of the rodeo season. To be eligible for the honor, students must submit an application to the NHSRA national office in Denver.

The application includes questions about the extracurricular activities, volunteerism and goals of each applicant. As part of the application process, each applicant must also submit a letter of recommendation as well as a 150-word essay.

Winners are featured each month in the NHSRA Times.

** Hint** The sooner you get yours in the better. Early submission only comes in sporadically so you have improved changes of being selected!
